Friendship Club
There is a legend that many women talk about but don't talk about here in Los Angeles.
It's a few parts friendship, few parts coconut oil, a few parts warm fluffy towels and so many parts of love and laughter and oh so much more.
The friendship club is an invite only exclusive club. There's vetted members and lovely people who have been tested rigorously for quality assurance and care.
Although sometimes a little asshole like me can somehow pass the mark and get in.
These women in this club are guaranteed to put a smile on your face.
These women in this club are guaranteed to make you think more about life than you might even imagine.
These women are everyday women.
These women are extraordinary people.
Last night I finally finally got to put some real life faces behind the pictures and posts that I have been seeing for nearly two years.
Last night was the first edition of friendship club beyond a few intros here and there individually.
The day after this experience I can tell you that I am tremendously floored by these women even more so.
In another world in worlds I'm currently seeking a new place to roost. Having had a disaster of a roommate situation a month ago and being a bit flux with trying to get my bearings, I really haven't been able to get out much. It seems that's quite quite normal nowadays more than ever.
Last week I made time to reward myself and balance a bit. I was nervous about how it was going to be the next day and even as I went into it (I made a Scribble about it) but it felt incredibly good when I did it and...
Last night there was a post inviting the friendship club to come over.
"Bring wine."
Having not formally met many of them I decided that this might be a good time. I packed a bag of Homer Buddahs (yet another thing you will see a lot of as this blog really starts opening up) and decided that this would be a good investment.
Friendship is one of the best investments you'll ever make for yourself.
It truly truly is.
There's so much I want to tell you about my day yesterday and so many tangents about these very things but...
I wasn't going to go originally. I was going to park my ass in a Starbucks and write before seeing this apartment as I was already close to that area anyway after seeing my little dude. I was going to be responsible. I posted that I couldn't go and was going to do my adult stuff.
But then the woman showing the room requested it not be done until today.
I hesitated for a moment contemplating how much I probably looked not my greatest having driven a ton for appointments and a couple of drives for work. I listened to a Smiths song. I sipped my crunch berries Frappachino recommendation from a former passenger that worked at a Starbucks. I took a deep breath and thought about it... and then I got in my car and made the drive.
From that point the rest is.. a secret as you might guess. I met some amazing women whom I'm fortunate enough to call friends. They are great people and... well they may have even been published in few publications other than this one. Hope you enjoyed this edition as I'm sure thankfully there will likely be many more to come.
